Crying Cyrus

In October of 2019, the Iranian people were protesting against their corrupt government for their poor politics which had caused the price of gas to triple despite being under sanctions for years. I spent my childhood in Iran and had witnessed the Green Revolution of 2009. I sympathized with my people and wanted to do all I can to raise awareness. Having a mandatory military tag attached to me, I felt that introducing westerners to the culture, history, and people of Iran is the most I can do to compensate for the lack of such topics in the media. I painted a Levis jacket which displays traditional Persian patterns on the sleeves, and a portrait of Cyrus the Great Crying on the back. Crying Cyrus refers to the devastating state of my country and how Cyrus,  Persia's greatest and most prosperous king, would be crying tears of blood witnessing the state of his land and people.
