The Phoenix

The Phoenix from The Phoenix And The Turtle poem symbolizes an immortal lover; a phoenix dies ever 500 years and is reborn from the ashes. Having immortality means that its relationship with the turtle dove will eventually end. In this cover photo and the photo series you will see many allusions and metaphors to birds, wind, and the sky. I tried to incorporate the essence of a fierce and ferocious fire-bird placed in a mystical setting. The model is shot from low angles to convey dominance and her poses exude power.

My goal for this project was to personify the characters from The Phoenix And The Turtle and use visuals as an aid to allude to themes from the poem.
