The Turtle

The Turtle Dove from The Phoenix And The Turtle poem symbolizes the love between and immortal lover and a mortal one. The Turtle Dove is a mortal bird, compared to the phoenix, and their story is a symbol of deep but temporary love. In this cover photo and the photo series you will see many allusions to birds, wind, and the sky. With this photo-set , the setting of the model is very grounded and many allusions to buildings and grounds are made (i.e. the natural habitat of doves). The dove is an earthly explorer; simpler and humbler in appearance than the phoenix.

My goal for this project was to personify the characters from The Phoenix And The Turtle and use visuals as an aid to allude to themes from the poem.
