Victims

My first solo exhibit was held in the Weldon Library at Western University, a public place exposed to a vast number of students. A week after my work was displayed, I realized the importance of the platform given to me. I thought I should use that platform to convey an important message to raise awareness and empower rape victims. This is matter is of personal importance, almost all the women in my life have been a victim of rape and sexual assault and as man, I always struggled to find ways to help. With Victims, I tried to incorporate components of rape and sexual assault. Aggressive hands, motion blur, pills, and a red-orange colour palette was used to covey naked and exposed feeling, one that rape victims feel.
